Lost In the Mazes of Men

hmmm well I check this blog everyday, so I thought I'd post something....

huh, well now that I'm graduated and summer is here, the world has changed. Suddenly I'm being asked on more dates a week than my entire year. To add to this statement, where did all the men come from? Some are coming back, some just stopping by briefly, and some leaving a trail to follow as they walk away.... Boy 1 sent me through a series of mazes. I'd get lost with his mixed signals and his lack of commitment to lead me in the right direction. As far as I could tell, he'd left me in the dust until he got bored again. So I tried to move on, thinking he'd made it clear that I needed to. That's when, shall we call him Bases?, came along. He charmed me right out of the baseball park! I thought he was the greatest guy I'd ever met! So I fell for him. Well, turns out he was an entirely different person than I thought he was. Entirely. He's the type of guy that takes advantage of a girl like me, and then makes a show out of it. What else was I supposed to do besides run away as fast as possible? Now I'm getting crap for moving around too fast.... well sorry if I didn't want to get raped today. Boys really are only after one thing, and I can relate to CC. So judge as you wish, but I'm sick of being treated like crap. I called him Bases, because he tried to make it to home plate, and I wasn't having that! To make matters worse, he's a year younger than me... I'm trying to find someone worth my time, but he seems to be MIA. That or I'm sure the good guys have all been taken. So, I'm off men for the moment. Friends are so much easier to deal with. The lack in drama is welcomed openly, and I'm finally enjoying the lack in pressure. I'm on the run girls, hoping the right guy will catch up to me.

six word: Now I remember necessity for closure.

Dating Family...ish

What do you do when you go on a date with a member of your best friends family? What if it gets awkward? It's not like you can just say, "Oh well, I'll never see you again." Because you will! All the time! And then you're friend will be all like, "So.... How's that going?" or "You like my family member..." I know.. Awkward. Crushing is one thing. Dating is a different matter. NOT THAT I'M DATING ANYONE! Or even LIKE them... It was just one date. I swear... Just the best date I've ever been on...

But seriously guys. It was an awesome date. And the best part is he has continued speaking to me. And we really get along! And he regularly wants to hang out with me. Gah! I feel stupid and girly and squealy.. Which was NOT the plan. The plan was to just not like boys for a while. After the whole weirdness with Cedar boy..

The other thing is that Alice's(Pseudonym) family member is way too good. You know? He's the guy that you're Mom says, "You should write him on his mission and then get married and give me loads of grandchildren." Not that my Mom has actually said that.. Ok just the bit about the mission.

So the point of this is.... Something.. Don't read to much into this. I just like rambling! Okay! Stop hassling me!

The Goings On in California - Part 2

Where was I? Oh yes. My friends have just arrived at the hotel. The energy is intense. The excitement is pulsing. The sun is bright. The day is full of possibilities. And what does Jenn want? Mexican food.

Off we went on a search for a Mexican restaurant. Down the street I had just an hour earlier been on as I feared for my safety. A boy on a skateboard went rushing through us, splitting up our line. We all turned to get a better look at him. He was looking at us, too. I don't know what I did it, but I definitely don't regret it. I began running toward him. "Hey, hey! Do you want to get Mexican food with us?" He said, "I just ate at Carl's Jr." I said, "Come anyway!" He said, "Okay." Julian became our strong and beautiful knight on our quest to conquer Anaheim.

The first few minutes with Julian were strange. I guess I hadn't really expected him to accept my offer. No one knew quite what to say, so we filled the time with small talk. By the time we entered the restaurant, we were all flowing. He lives with his doctor dad in New Mexico, where he spends his time playing football and skateboarding, or more recently, smoking 'shrooms. We walked all of three miles to the mall, where he dealt with three very different girls screaming and jumping and squealing and laughing and getting fake tattoos. He still wanted to hang out with us the next day. What a trouper.

Sitting in the airport, I don't feel good about going back to Utah with the blizzards and the problems. But here I come...

Consider This When Choosing Friends

My school’s 80’s dance was about a week ago. It is nigh unto impossible to describe how fun it was to get ready for it. Of course, its “funness level” was diminished when two of my best friends - (ahem, Wanda and Ginger), did not dress up. (FYI: “I was just too busy today” translates into “I wouldn’t be caught dead in those yellow spandex or 4-inch bangs”). Wanda's friend Marigold was stranded at the dance until she convinced Wanda to take her to Purple Turtle to meet some other friends who could give her a ride home. I was invited to go with the three lovely girls, and I agreed, naturally forgetting I was the only one in 80’s apparel.

Ginger, Wanda and Marigold. We are talking about three of the most beautiful girls to ever grace the planet with their presence. I’m not just saying that to enhance the story. These girls are seriously intensely gorgeous. And because Marigold is Marigold, her friends waiting at Purple Turtle were boys. Five of them. Excellent.

Luckily for me, I was ignorant of the wonderful situation I was getting myself into. And to add a cherry on top of the delightful outing, we had a confrontation (sort of) with one of my favorite people. Here is that experience: As we jetted over to Purple Turtle in Wanda's adorable little grandma car, a white truck pulled to the left of us. It was, (naturally), full of boys. I have a bad habit of forgetting when I should duck my head to hide my turquoise eyeshadow, so in classic CC style, I shifted my eyes sneakily to the boy in the passenger’s seat of the truck. A moment later, the truck fell behind us, then proceeded to pull to our right side. It was at this point when we could see the driver, who was such a darling gentleman, he flipped us off. A car full of, with the exception of the hag in the backseat wearing 80’s garb, beautiful girls. Why did he do that? Because it was Jaun Madly. Always a pleasure, Jaun, always a pleasure.

I was still tripping a little bit by the time we arrived at Purple Turtle, which is possibly why I got out of the car with Ginger, Wanda and Marigold. As I stood next to the lovely purple restaurant, shivering, waiting for Aubrey to get in the boy’s car so we could leave, I realized something that immediately brought a smile to my face.

Whenever I see a group of boys, especially where the majority of them are obviously attractive, I pick out the cutest. By pure, sick instinct, I also pick out the less attractive among them, or to be quite frank, “the ugly ones.” Well, if boys are anything like girls, which they aren’t, then I had just been dubbed “the ugly one.” I told Ginger my thoughts, and Ginger, being Ginger, hit me and told me I was ridiculous. I continued to tell her that it was okay, the only reason an unattractive boy hangs out with attractive boys is because he’s the funny one. Maybe the boys in the car had just dubbed me the funny one! Which might explain why I was dressed in 80’s vintage! As I frequently remind my more attractive friends, “Not all of us can get by on good looks.” And as my mom used to always remind me, “Hope springs eternal.” (What does that even mean, mom? I used to think it was in reference to the season, like, I hope spring lasts forever. Since then, I have realized that is not likely).

Moral of the story: Don't hang around people more attractive than you. CC, you MORON.

A Circle of Love

Ok, so I have this crush (I always start out this way). I really like him, and I've liked him since the beginning of last summer. We are really good friends and sometimes I think that he thinks I'm really funny. You see, I'm a very humorous person. For awhile everything went along great. I secretly liked him, nobody but my best friends new and I made excellent jokes. But something was very rotten (and possibly moldy) in the state of Denmark. I have a hot best friend.

Now I know what your thinking. Why do you hang out with people hotter than you? That's not smart at all! Well you don't know Kim. Besides being hot she is super nice and very funny. She also has a very unique style that this boy happens to adore. So I not only hang out with her, but I try extremely hard to be her clone... Sad I know... (read my first blog on julesanstypants.blogspot.com to see why). Now, while I can't go long with out talking to, laughing with or poking Kim, I have a part of me that wants to "shave her face off and nail it to my wall." For a long time I struggled with my personality disorder. I would be really rude to her and not tell her why, and then come back later like nothing had happened. I even broke up with her, but I couldn't even last a whole week without her. You see, Kim and I aren't even best friends anymore. We are soul sisters. I know it sounds corny, but I love her, and I would pick her any day over any boy (even Jonny Depp).

I started this post very vengeful and angry... not at anyone in particular. I was upset that the boy didn't like me better or complement me, but writing about my best friend I realize that it's the people who already love me that I should think about. Thank you Kim.. For loving me.. Even when I blame you. Friends should be forever.
